This is the last week of our winter session!
It's been an incredible session! Thanks for leveraging your lives for the good of other people at Mission, creating safe spaces for them to move toward God together. Your hard work pays off!
In group this week, please have everyone take a QUICK SURVEY about their experience in a Mission Group! The survey can be found on the group questions page, found at missionventura.com/groups.
Habit #7 | Watch for Emerging Leaders
Possibly the biggest tension in leading a group is between growing deeper relationships within your group and multiplying your impact by raising up new leaders. But as hard as it is, the fact remains the same: without the development of new leaders that are ready to put their comfort on hold for the sake of creating more safe circles for people that don't have them, our kingdom impact stops with us.
So as you watch for emerging leaders, keep these ideas in mind to find the leaders that are most ready to launch!
Knowledge can be taught. Passion can't.
Sometimes we see the most experienced, most mature, most knowledgeable people in the room as our best potential leaders. And often, someone with a hunger for God, a passion for others, and a teachable heart is not that person. But don't count them out; knowledge, skill, and even maturity are all byproducts of a heart and life devoted to God, and they come with time. The more we lean into those teachable, hungry spirits, the more we'll see leaders developed.
Delegate as often as possible.
Almost everything you do as a leader can be delegated with development in mind. Try offering responsibilities, either ongoing or one-time, up to the group, and see who jumps at it! Or, make targeted asks of those who you think might have potential. It's a great chance to watch how it goes, and follow-up well afterward.
Lead with a Kingdom perspective.
Launching a new leader is a hard moment, and often a group can just stay sad about losing someone. But it's a chance to lead them with a kingdom perspective, putting on display the idea that reaching more people is worth more than our comfort. Lead strong in that direction and celebrate their faithfulness and courage!
SET THE RIGHT GOALS FOR THE BREAK
Personally plan how you want to engage with your group members during the off-time. Without some realistic but sturdy goals, our good intentions often end up as just that... intentions. Whether it’s trying to get together with everyone at once for a party, seeing all of your members individually, or something in between, set a goal so that you have something tangible driving you!
