From everything I've heard, it sounds like it was a great first week of groups! Great turnout, tons of new people getting connected and showing up for the first time, and lots of energy in discussions!
Let's really go after the ones that didn't make it to the first week... go and find them so they don't find an excuse to miss another week! This is the time to go overboard in making sure everyone knows that they are INVITED IN!
Sometimes it's easy to think of communication as just a process of transmitting information. But as group leaders working toward building authentic relationships within our groups, communication is something else.
Communication is a tool for building relationships.
Here are some helpful questions that help us reframe communication as a relationship building tool:
- Does my group have a place to easily communicate with each other outside of our group meeting?
- Does my method of communicating each week make each person feel welcomed, wanted, and invited?
- Are my group communication methods easier for me or easier for my group members?
Let's make sure we remember how powerful communication throughout the week is, and work to make people feel cared for by how we communicate!
