Stories of Grace are irresistible.
Our world is full of stories. We've created countless ways to tell stories throughout history. Stories of comebacks, underdogs, heroes, courage, loss, and love.
But we don't just love stories. We need them. In "Life Together", Dietrich Bonhoeffer says...
"The Christ in (one's) own heart is weaker than the Christ in the word of his brother; his own heart is uncertain, his brother's is sure."
A space that we can share our stories of grace is a wonderful thing; but a space where we can share in the stories of our friends is an irresistible thing. If Bonhoeffer is onto something, our hearts and minds can only cling to grace in the fullest way when we experience the grace in our friend's lives on top of our own. The picture of God becomes complete.
We say it for a reason... "transformation happens BEST in the context of circles!"
Conversational Feedback and Encouragement
Sharing can be an uncomfortable thing for many people. As facilitators, we need to encourage people as soon as they share with quick and simple statements like…
Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like that meant a lot to you.
Anyone else connect with that point/question/idea?
Make sure to stay away from “value statements”, either positive or negative! Also make sure to remember, we are the ones who encourage sharing, not the ones who teach or over-share!
DID YOU HEAR THE BIG NEWS?!?!
This weekend we heard some HUGE updates on Mission's building, what to expect this fall, and how we can all continue "making space" for the people in our world who don't yet know the hope of Christ. Watch the video from this weekend if you missed it!
