This is our second to last gathering. Let’s finish strong as leaders and encourage the women we lead to finish strong as well by showing up to group and digging into our reading and homework all the way up until this session of group is a wrap.
We are a group of imperfect people pursuing a perfect God. We exist to help each other find and follow Christ. These are some things we want to be true of our group:
We create a safe and honest environment, staying transparent and authentic.
We keep it inside the circle. Confidentiality is necessary for a healthy group.
We look together to the Bible for help and guidance, and keep out our own politics, sales, or agendas.
We do not try to fix each other, preach sermons, or give unsolicited advice. We instead encourage, listen to, and celebrate each other.
We handle conflict between us quickly and honestly by going to the person, owning our part, and practicing forgiveness.
We respect each others’ time by starting and ending when we say we will.
We trust that it is God’s role to change people, not ours.
We believe that in Jesus Christ, there is hope for everyone.
Describe the physical place you feel the most peace. It could be a vacation spot, someone’s home, your home, a favorite beach, anywhere!
Chapter Recap: Experiencing God’s Peace
This week’s topic was experiencing God’s peace. Page 89 reads, “Peace can be possible in any situation, but we cannot simply produce it on demand. In fact, we cannot produce it at all. It is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22).” Prayer was one of the main theme of our chapter on peace. Page 103 reads, “Only through prayer are we washed in peace.”
Flipping through week five’s homework on “Experiencing God’s Peace,” what stuck out to you the most?
From Day One, page 91... Have you experienced difficult times when you totally surrendered to christ and you found that His peace transcends understanding? If so, what did you learn from the experience?
From Day Two, page 94... What kinds of situations threaten your peace? And page 95, Which of the three images of peace seems most important to your life right now? Why?
Flip to Day Three... Did anything speak to you specifically on this day? If so, what? Why do you think it stood out to you?
From Day Four, page 102... Why do you think the enemy would rather we do anything than pray?
Day five is about prayer being the way to peace. On page 107 Beth notes, “I am hopeless to live the victorious life without prayer.” Have you experienced a change in your prayer life since beginning this study? If so, what’s changed?
The videos this session preview the homework that you'll do over the next week. Watch them after your discussion! They are all about 15 minutes long.
The videos are on Vimeo, so you can watch them by connecting your computer to your TV with an HDMI cable, or by using a simple casting device like a Chromecast, Roku Stick, Amazon Fire TV Stick, or Apple TV!
“Enjoying God’s Presence" (page 109-127)
Use the last 15 minutes of group to ask if anyone has any prayer requests and close in prayer. Send around the prayer requests out to the group so everyone can be praying throughout the week.
