Bible Story:  Jesus Calls Andrew and Peter (Mark 1:14-20; Luke 5:1-11)

WHAT YOU DO

1. Watch the video! Sing and dance along to the worship songs, watch the Bible story, and connect the big idea to real life!

2. Talk about each of the questions to keep the conversation going

3. Do the activity together to have some fun and reinforce the big idea!

Question of the day! (all ages!)

• Go around the room and ask the question: “Would you rather have a pet dinosaur or a robot butler? Why?”

Questions for 1st-3rd Graders

1. What did Jesus say to Peter when he got on the boat? (Go deeper into the water and throw out the nets.)

2. What happened when Jesus told Peter to put his nets in the water? (There were so many fish in the net that the boat started to sink!)

3. When Peter realized who Jesus was, what did Jesus ask him? (Jesus said “Follow me!”)

4. How can you follow Jesus?

Questions for 4th-5th Graders

1. What was happening when Jesus got on Peter’s boat? (Peter wasn’t catching any fish.)

2. What did Jesus say to Peter? How do you think Peter felt? (He told Peter to go out deeper into the water!)

3. What happened when Jesus told Peter to put his nets in the water? (There were so many fish in the net that the boat started to sink!)

4. Read Mark 1:17 - “And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

5. What do you think it meant when Jesus said they would “fish for people?”

6. How can you follow Jesus?

1. Grab the word search (view/print below or grab from your January Church Kit) and pens, crayons, or highlighters.

2. Then, search and find the words!

3. Look at all the words you have found. How do each of these words remind you of today's Bible Story and Big Idea?

1. Grab some paper and crayons, markers, or pencils

2. Then click the button below to follow along to “Lunch Doodles with Mo Willems.” (Follow along from 16:45-19:41)

We follow along to YouTube videos all the time, and today we learned that Jesus wants us to follow Him! What do you think it takes to follow Jesus?
