Verse of the Month
Love each other (hug yourself)
as I (point up)
have loved you (thumbs toward self)
John 15:12 (hold hands like an open book)
God gave us the words of the Bible to show us who He is!
Practice the verse a few times! In Mission Kids, we often practice saying it different ways, like sqeaky, SUPER LOUD, or with a roar!
Talk It Out
What did Jesus tell the large group of people to do? (go out and love people just like He does)
What did Jesus use as a picture for the people? (a light)
What are we like when we love others? (We shine like a light)
How can we love others? (by helping them, sharing, and saying kind words)
What happens when we don’t love others? (we cover up our light)
When can we start loving like Jesus? (now)
How do you feel when someone helps you?
How do you feel when someone shares with you?
How do you feel when someone says nice things to you?
Who can love like Jesus? I can love like Jesus!
Pray Together
Before you pray, make a list of ways we can love like Jesus. Then pray together using the one below or your own.
“Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to teach us how to love each other. Sometimes it’s hard, but we know Jesus is with us and will help us love as He loves. Help us love others by (read the list you made). We want to be a shining light of love everywhere we go. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
MAKE IT // ART ACTIVITY
What you need: Activity Page (view/print below or grab from your March Church Kit), scissors, tape, and crayons or markers.
What you do:
Use your crayons or markers to color the light bulb.
Cut out the light bulb and tape the ends together to fit around your fingers.
Every time we love like Jesus, we let our light shine.
Who can love like Jesus? I can love like Jesus!
MOVE IT // ACTIVE ACTIVITY
What you need: Glow sticks (included in March Church Kit) and music (check out our Spotify playlist!)
What you do:
Get your glow sticks or flash lights and have a light dance party with some fun music.
Remind your kiddo that we can shine when we love like Jesus.
YOU DID IT!
Continue the conversation all week by reminding each other of all the ways Jesus shows that he loves us!
