Bible Story: The Christmas Story - Luke 1:26-2:20, Matthew 2:1-2, 9-11
What you do
Watch the worship and story video together (and learn the verse of the month!!)
Talk about each of the questions to keep the conversation going
Pray together!
Make it - check out our suggested art activity.
Move it - to have some fun, move around, and reinforce the big idea!
Memory Verse
God (point up)
loved the world so much (give yourself a hug)
that he gave (hands out in front of you like you’re offering something)
his only son. (rock arms like rocking a baby)
John 3:16 (hold hands like an open book)
God gave us the words of the Bible to show us who He is!
Practice the verse a few times! In Mission Kids, we often practice saying it different ways, like reallllyyyy sllowwwllyyyy, SUPER LOUD, or with a roar!
Talk it through together
Why did Mary and Joseph have to go to Bethlehem? (They had to be counted for the census)
Where was Jesus born? (in a manger)
How did Mary and Joseph know to name the baby Jesus? (an angel told them to)
What kinds of animals were in the stable when Jesus was born? (cows, sheep, donkeys..)
Who came to see Jesus in the stable? (the shepherds)
Who else saw Jesus? (the wisemen)
Who gives us hope? (Jesus!)
Pray Together
Say your own together or follow along with the one below!
“Dear God, thank you for loving (kiddo’s name(s)) and me so much that you gave us Jesus to be our friend forever. Jesus truly is the best gift ever. We love You, God! Amen.”
MAKE IT // ART ACTIVITY
What you need: Activity Page (view/print below, or grab it from the December Church Kit if you have one!), glue, tape, and scissors.
What you do:
Cut out the story cube along the outside edge.
Fold the flaps and glue the tabs together to make a cube.
Tape the edges to make it a little stronger.
Role your cube and look for the corresponding story piece.
Read what the picture stands for and roll again.
MOVE IT // ACTIVE ACTIVITY
What you need: Activity Page (grab it from the December Church Kit if you have one!)
What you do:
Grab the story pictures from your Church Kit or make your own (printable below)
Hang the story pictures around the room.
Each sticker represents a part of the story.
Match each story cookie cutter with the right picture hanging on the wall.
Make it fun by hopping to the picture, then skip to the next one, etc.
